Prescribing Recommendations

NHS Thanet Clinical Commissioning Group produces recommendations on the cost-effective use of medicines and other items provided on prescription in our area. Our Prescribing Committee meets each month to consider recommendations. Current recommendations are published in the library below.

We also work with other local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) through the East Kent Prescribing Group. The group meets monthly along with colleagues from all areas of healthcare, such as the acute trusts (hospitals), community services and specialist services, to consider issues across the four East Kent CCGs (Ashford, South Kent Coast, Thanet and Canterbury and Coastal CCG).

Prescribing recommendations can be viewed on the East Kent Primary Care Formulary and the Restricted categories list (also known as the high cost drug (HCD) list). Directions on how to check the status of a medicine or prescribed item are available in the Prescribing Recommendations- How to Search document. Details of other local formularies and information on high cost drugs are also available
