A pharmacy, increased space and more consulting rooms are just some of the facilities that will be available at a new GP medical centre in Ramsgate.
The new £1.6 million Dashwood Medical Centre in Grange Road is set to open in the New Year and the last of the interior works are being finished.
The centre is ideally placed to serve the practice’s patients in Ramsgate. It is within easy reach of the current premises in South Eastern Road by public transport.
With 6,940 registered patients, the practice needed to move as their current buildings have become too small, and their layout means they are not suitable for disabled patients.
The purpose built modern practice will be open throughout the day offering more appointments and physiotherapy, as well as giving the possibility to plan and develop other services in the future.
The surgery’s patient group has been closely involved in how the surgery will run and what services will be available. NHS Kent and Medway has supported the project from the beginning.
Dr Michael Cardwell, a GP and senior partner at Dashwood House Surgery, said: “We are looking forward to moving into the new surgery. We don't yet have the final date but we expect it to be in January. The new premises will really benefit our patients: they offer a modern surgery with more consulting rooms. Our patients will also be able to get their prescriptions on site."
