The four east Kent clinical commissioning groups have had legal directions lifted following sustained improvements.
NHS England had been providing additional support through its statutory powers after issuing the CCGs with directions last May, due to the challenging finances of the east Kent system.
These directions focused on the development and implementation of a robust and credible financial recovery plan to ensure the CCGs were within budget. Producing this plan was a huge undertaking, involving collaborative working across the CCGs.
Wilf Williams, Accountable Officer, said: “I would like to acknowledge the tremendous commitment from all our staff and membership in making this happen.
“This is a result of really powerful collaboration between the four east Kent CCGs and will be a great benefit for the future. Thanks to everyone’s dedication and support, it puts us in a good position as we move to one CCG from 1 April.”
